What Are Veneers?
Veneers are small, wafer-thin dental prosthetics, built from porcelain ceramic. They are custom made to fit over your existing teeth and replace the exterior chewing surfaces to cover up minor cosmetic flaws. Because they essentially “replace” your existing teeth, veneers can be used to treat a number of cosmetic issues. However, veneers are not intended to be a restorative treatment, and can’t be used to treat issues like seriously damaged teeth or major orthodontic problems.
What to Expect During Veneers Treatment
Veneers are typically placed in just two appointments, after you’ve had a consultation with Dr. Reimer or Dr. Romero and you’ve worked together to develop a personalized treatment plan.
To start the process, your teeth will be prepared for veneers. This means a very small layer of enamel will be removed to make room for your veneers. Then, images and molds are taken of your teeth and sent to a dental lab, where your veneers will be created. Once your veneers are manufactured, Dr. Reimer or Romero will check the fit, finish, and color of your veneers to make sure they’re perfect. The last step is cleaning your teeth and bonding your veneers permanently into place. You’ll leave our office with a refreshed, beautiful smile!
